The Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) is a new federal transportation reauthorization bill aimed at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMSCA’s) updated driver training guidelines under 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 380.
The FMCSA has issued new training criteria that apply to drivers who require a Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) and who drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).
All school districts and contractors in Arizona must comply with MAP-21 regulations by February 7, 2022. School bus drivers trained on or after this date must meet the new MAP-21 training requirements. These changes do not apply to current DPS-certified school bus drivers unless they are changing endorsements or switching class of license.
